A winter ritual. A wedding staple. A royal treat.
In the northern kitchens of India, when the nights grow longer and the air turns sharp, a pot of moong dal halwa begins its slow journey — simmered for hours in pure ghee, stirred without shortcuts, and finished with saffron, cardamom, and roasted nuts.
This isn’t a quick dessert. It’s one that announces its presence.
Served at weddings. Passed down through generations.
If you’re receiving it by post, gently warm it — microwave for a few seconds or place the container in a bowl of hot water. Let it breathe before you eat.
